
ENCANTA LA VIDA Wake up to the sounds of the rain forest. Encanta la Vida means Enchanted Life, or literally Loving Life, it doesn’t get more enchanting than being completely off the grid at a jungle adventure lodge in southern Costa Rica.Daily visits from Scarlet Macaws, Toucans, monkeys and many other types of wildlife. At the end of the day, fall sleep to the sounds of rolling surf.
YOGA and Thai Massage Simon Park and special guest teachers will teach twice daily Prana Flow with emphasis on a vigorous morning practice and a gentle restorative or partner Thai Massage classes in the late afternoon. The theme of the yoga flow is Kaivalya or Absolute Freedom, a practice that complements living life with Gusto! There will be plenty of time to surf, explore or just lay in a hammock. *Individual Thai Massage with Simon will be available at additional cost.
SURFING The hotel is located in front Pan Dulce and you can walk to three excellent point breaks in minutes, the beach is accessed through a trail of chocolate and mango trees. Surfing lessons and rentals are available, not included in retreat package. There are a variety of boards from 6 to 11 feet at $15 a day. Lessons $55 a day. If you are planning to bring your own surfboard, please check with airlines, fees will apply.
MEALS Three homemade meals a day using the freshest ingredients and local recipes are included in the retreat price. You can dine poolside or by candlelight in the dining room. The chef will delight your palate with four course meals and tropical drinks. Vegetarian options are offered at every meal.
THE AREA The southern pacific coast of Costa Rica, has long been known as the remote jewel of Costa Rica. The Osa Peninsula, of which half is protected by national park and local and international private reserves, is considered by the “National Geographic” to be one of the most biologically diverse places on the earth. CaboMatapalo is 40 minutes from Puerto Jimenez, at the mouth of the GulfoDulce. Matapalo is home to a high density of wildlife – you’ll often see more exotic animals in CaboMatapalo than in all of Costa Rica.

TRAVEL Fly to San Jose, the country’s capital and take a connecting flight to Puerto Jimenez. Or a 7 to 9 hour drive from San Jose and you’ll need a 4-wheel drive. Travel from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez can be arranged through Isabel at Osa Tropical at no extra cost, for all your in-country travel needs including taxis and hotel in San Jose if necessary: osatropi@ice.co.cr Tel 011 506-2735-5062 Fax 5043. Sansa and Nature Air are the two airlines that have several flights daily to Puerto Jimenez, the flight is approx 50 minutes and costs approx $120 each way. Taxis from Puerto Jimenez to Orcas de Osa is about 40 minutes and costs $30, each taxi can hold 6 people.
