OUR PAST ADVENTURES

December 19, 2017

I was open to pain and crossed by the rain and I walked on a crooked crutch

I strolled all alone through a fallout zone and come out with my soul untouched

I hit in the clouded wrath of the crowd, but when they said, "Sitdown,“ I stood up

Ooh… growin’ up

                                     ~ Bruce Springsteen

Hello Yogis and Rock and Rollers,

2017 has been a tough year around the world. I won't get into the many reasons why.. but I genuinely hope that each of you have found a way to stay positive, be present and Let Love Rule!

I don't have a whole lot to say.. just that it was a great to see many of you at workshops, trainings and festivals, or in the natural flow of life. If I haven't seen you in a while, know that you are held in my heart and not forgotten. I've been inspired by many people, places and things this year. One of the most memorable experiences was teaching my first 200 Hr TT in the French Alps. An amazing global community was created with a genuine web of love and support that could easily last a lifetime for many of us. In this age of instant connections that come and go, I firmly believe in the timeless reality of forming deep bonds by being in the actual presence of each other; sharing moments and creating energy that raises the vibration of the global community and the planet.

I'll leave you with some more wise words from an artist who's music has been an inspiration to me my whole life, Bruce Springsteen. The words of his song 'Growing Up' reminds me of the real joy, discovery, heartbreak, ecstasy and friendships that 15 years of teaching and traveling has brought into my life. Recently reading his autobiography, 'Born to Run', I gained insight into the incredible spirit inside of him that drives his music. He writes, " Life always trumps art. " This statement inspires me to live more courageously, honestly and fully.. RIGHT NOW!.. with more Love and compassion, to share my art and tell my story, wrapped up in the good times of a simple yoga class.

“ Tramps like us.. BABY WE WERE BORN TO RUN!!! " -  BRUUUUUUUCE!

Love and Greetings,
from Simon and Coco

Hi All You Yogis Out There, Down Under and REALLY OUT there!

The Wheel keeps spinning round and round and I am somehow feeling like I'm slowing down. Maybe its age or the lessening of desire. The mind believes illusions quite easily, but the heart and gut know what they want...The trick is figuring out where the signals are coming from.

I've made some drastic choices in the last couple of years - moving to Australia, traveling around the world twice in three quarters of a year, and deciding to attempt to teach my first 200 Hr teacher training after 22 years of being a student. What I've learned from taking big stabs at life - there are no bad decisions inspired by inner vision and the desire to fulfill one’s dharma... because the bitter residue of doubt will not exist in the heart and tastebuds when it is all over. As Ghandi said " Full effort is full victory! ".

Big Love to All of You who have made my journey so colourful, weird and wonderful. Wishing you a peaceful Fall into Winter.

- Simon

#World Tour 2016
Leaving in a flurry of activity and preparation for a 9 month world tour can be hectic.
Flights, visas, hotels and baggage of past and future adventures.
The real beauty of the moment lies in the truth that you can never predict what will exactly happen.
Blue skies or bad weather, you are in for the ride....

" Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life ". - Jack Kerouac

Goodbye for now...Oz will soon be in the rear view mirror. The wind of freedom carries over the Oceans, and refreshes our dreams.

Message in a Bottle 1:

Crash! System Failure! SNAFU!!!
What are we doing in Gili Meno???
Coco and I left Amsterdam in a flurry state of adventure and
excitement, embarking to the southern hemisphere, Australasia…

our Brave New World.

The Man Behind the Curtain still had not granted our dream wish to
enter the magical kingdom of OZ. So, we jumped on a ship headed for
the Never-Never Land of Yoga teachers named Bali.
There, we landed on a Floating Leaf and nursed our super powers back
to full Zing. Upon recovery, we headed for the Pirate waters of the
Gili Isles in the Straight of Lombok.
Like any good ship-wreck, we have no idea how long we will be here.
This is our Message In A Bottle! If you receive this, we have floated
through many childhood fairytale adventures together.
Dont send help, just join us on our never-ending, always evolving,
quest for the Ultimate Yoga Adventure!

Message in a Bottle 2:

Boom! Landed in Oz...

The trees were in full bloom. End of Summer. Everything Perfect. Body Mind Life is a planet of Yoga, Love and Community. Students and teachers fully and passionately committed to this formless, intangible artform of life we call Yoga.  As ordinary Australian citizens, Coco and I are in the flow of life in Sydney and this incredible land of discovery. Living on the eastern edge of the continent in Dover Heights, rolling down the cliffs to catch the surf crashing onto Bondi Beach, and getting to know this eclectic bunch of souls in this Emerald city.

We are vastly interested in our own destiny, because it is unwritten and unscripted.  The next chapter will be a crazy busy month of reconnecting with old friends Daphne Tse + Phillip and Ivy passing through our humble abode, teaching a gadzillion number of classes, and getting ready for our first summer tour together. Coco and I are going Back On The Road!!!

with Love,
Simon and Coco

YO What UP!!! Friends and Acquaintances I have made in my travels...

I hope 2011 has been another watershed year for you as it has been for me. Inspired long ago by my man Jack Kerouac and as advertised...I've been On The Road. I went on a long teaching trek around Europe from late January to mid-March including first visits to Stuttgart, Wels, Amsterdam, Sophia, Athens, Ghent, Antwerpen, Annecy, and Linz.  If you know where all those places are, you win! I completed a 25 city tour in the month of April with Blues Bro, DJ HYFI down the Mississippi and back up the Appalachians. Back to Europe for some old faves Barcelona, Frankfurt, and Zurich.  Finally, I was lucky enough to co-teach with my old friend Andre Ram in one of the most magnificient places on earth, Formentera, Spain.

Yes, its true. This is my first mass email. One of those letters that one sends to their " email list ". In the 10 years that I've had the opportunity to gather such a list, I've been pathetic at it. Of all the workshops I've given in who know how many places, I've got a few random names scratched on some pieces of paper stuffed into old shoeboxes. Partly, its because I'm disorganized, but mostly its because I don't want to bother any of you with another email from another yoga teacher who wants to promote this class and that workshop, with perhaps some wisdom they gained from hanging out with their dog...

The philosophical chronicler in me feels as though I must have learned something worth sharing in my years of studying, teaching and travel.  Yes, perhaps.. but then again, maybe not?!!! I feel pretty ordinary most of the time, and so does my life. If anything, I've learned that we all have obstacles to overcome... especially The Dark Knight ( he's not me ).

I practice because I need to. I teach because its a creative outlet and people seem to enjoy it... which makes the world a lighter place.

So in the tradition of brevity, after a ten year wait... that's all i wrote. I've got some stuff coming up below if you're interested. Of note, is my " ONE CLASS ONLY " engagement at Wanderlust in Tahoe, CA.  Its my " big break " as they say in the biz.  After logging thousands of miles and in PO-Dunk, U.S.A and Small Market, Europe... I am hitting the main stage at The Biggest Yoga Festival On The Planet a.k.a. Wanderlust. Also, rocking Liberate Music and Yoga Festival in Burlington Vermont in late August.

I'll be the guy wearing my hand made, 'NO CORPORATE YOGA' t-shirt and printed in the back of a t-shirt shop in Asheville, NC by a biker dude named Vic.  Of course the stage that Twee, myself and DJ Hyfi are rocking is sponsored by Gaiam. If you want to a copy of the shirt... print it yourself on the back of one of the many t-shirts you already own.   Peace Jah Love and Nuff Respekt... S

***P.S. Feel feel to let me know that you never want another email from me again... I understand the sentiment!!!!

Places where I may or may not show up in 2011... (World Tour 2011)
